We build driveways, patios, walks and garage floors for Monrovia homeowners, and we take on walls, foundations and paved lots for property and business owners too.
Monrovia runs up into its foothills, where Monrovia Canyon Park has hiking trails, picnic areas, a waterfall and a nature center. In town, the Monrovia Historical Museum sits in the Spanish-style building that used to be the city's public pool, and Recreation Park has a baseball field, tennis courts and a hardcourt for basketball and skateboarding.
On jobs around town we see the same things again and again: older driveways cracked across the middle, front walks lifted at the seams and patios where water sits by the back door. We're based right here in Monrovia, so these are our neighbors' driveways and yards, and I look at each job myself before we put a number on it.

Concrete work we do in Monrovia, CA
Monrovia Concrete is a concrete contractor in Monrovia, CA, with 16 services, from new driveways and patios to footings, walls and raising a settled foundation. Most calls start with cracked, sinking or uneven concrete or water pooling by the house, and we fix what caused it, not just the top. The price moves with the size, tearing out and hauling off old concrete, how much digging the base needs, truck access and the finish you choose. The schedule turns on whether a permit is needed and on curing, the days concrete needs to harden before you use it. Your written estimate gives the figure for your job.
Concrete driveway building
We dig out the old driveway, pack a firm base and pour a new slab that sheds water away from your garage.
Concrete patio construction
Want a place for a table and grill? We pour patios sloped away from the house, with joints cut where cracks can go.
Stamped concrete services
Stamped concrete is pressed and colored to look like stone, brick or tile, for patios, walks and driveways you want dressed up.
Concrete sidewalk building
We build front walks and side paths with a broom finish, a light brushed texture that gives your shoes grip when it's wet.
Garage floor concrete
A garage floor carries your cars and their drips, so we pour it thick enough on a packed base, sloped toward the door.
Decorative concrete
What counts as decorative concrete? Color, exposed stone, borders and finishes that make a patio or entry fit the look of your house.
Concrete retaining walls
We build concrete retaining walls that hold back a slope or level a yard, with drainage behind them so water doesn't push them over.
Concrete floor installation
We pour and trowel interior floors smooth and level for shops, storage buildings and additions, ready to use or to cover.
Concrete pool decks
Pool decks need a finish that isn't slick when wet and a slope that carries splash water off, not back into the pool.
Concrete steps construction
We form and pour concrete steps for front doors, porches and slopes, with each step the same height so nobody trips.
Slab foundation building
We pour slab foundations for additions, garages and shops, with rebar, the steel inside that holds the slab together if it cracks.
Foundation installation
Building an addition or a new structure? We dig, form and pour the foundation it stands on, built to the plans.
Concrete parking lot building
For owners with a lot or shop to pave, we pour parking areas thick enough for daily traffic and sloped so water runs off.
Concrete footings
Footings are the buried concrete pads and strips that carry a wall, deck post or patio cover, and we dig them to firm ground.
Foundation raising
Floors sloping or doors sticking because the foundation settled? We lift the low section back toward level and fill the space beneath it.
Concrete cutting
Need a drain line, doorway or new opening through a slab or wall? We saw-cut concrete straight, so the edge that stays is clean.
How we run a concrete job
Drainage and crack lines settled before the pour
Most bad concrete I've torn out failed because water sat where it shouldn't or the cracks had no planned place to go. So we set the fall away from your house and lay out the control joints, the cut lines that give a crack a straight path, before anything gets poured. If a quick fix won't last, I'll tell you that instead of selling it.
A written estimate you can line up against other bids
Your estimate lists what's in the price, like tearing out the old concrete, hauling it off and the finish you picked. That way you can set our bid next to someone else's and see whether you're comparing the same job.
The crew I trained, with me on pour day
The crew I trained does the work, and I'm usually on site the day we pour, because that's when a slab gets made or ruined. Our work is backed by our satisfaction guarantee.

About Monrovia Concrete
I started Monrovia Concrete in 2017, after coming up on a small crew where I mixed, hauled and raked until the guys trusted me with a trowel. We're a concrete contractor based in Monrovia, fully licensed and insured, and after nine years in business we're still best known for flatwork, the driveways, patios, walks and garage floors that lie flat on the ground. We take on walls and foundation work too. You can read more about me and the crew.

(626) 879-0614Why the base matters more than the finish
What decides how long a driveway or patio lasts is the subgrade, the dug-out and packed ground the slab sits on, and since nobody sees it after day one, it's the first thing people want to cut when the budget's tight. I'd rather you pick a plainer finish than skimp on the base, because a fancy surface poured on loose dirt settles and cracks right along with it.

Concrete questions from Monrovia homeowners
Do I need a permit to pour a concrete driveway in Monrovia?
Not always, and it depends on the job and where it sits. The City of Monrovia's permit guide says driveways and sidewalks no more than 30 inches above grade need no building permit unless they're over a basement or part of an accessible route. Any work in the city's right-of-way, the public strip along the street, needs an encroachment permit, and for patios, walls and foundations we check with the city's Building Division before we set a date.
Does a concrete contractor need a license in California?
Yes, in most cases. California's Contractors State License Board requires a license when a job needs a building permit or uses employees, or when labor and materials come to $1,000 or more, and a home improvement contractor has to be licensed before bidding. Monrovia also requires every business working in the city to hold a city business license, so it's fair to ask about both.
Will my new concrete driveway crack like the old one?
It can still crack, since concrete shrinks as it dries, but we decide where. The joints we cut give a crack a straight line to follow, and a dug-out, packed base keeps the slab from settling and splitting the way a lot of old ones did.
How long before I can drive on a new concrete driveway?
You can walk on it well before you can drive on it, and I'll give you the days for your slab at the walk-through. Cars on it too soon can break edges and corners that haven't finished curing. How long you're without the driveway in all also depends on the tear-out and whether a permit is needed.
What do I need to do before the concrete crew comes?
Move cars, planters and anything stored on or next to the area, and make sure we have a clear way in for the truck or our wheelbarrows. If a dumpster or bin has to go out front, Monrovia lets homeowners apply for a no-fee encroachment permit for it, good for 14 days.
What's the best finish for a concrete patio or driveway?
For most driveways and walks I'd pick a plain broom finish, because it grips when it's wet and wears well. On a patio or front entry, stamped concrete or color and other decorative finishes look dressed up but cost more, and I'd still put the money into the base first.
Why does water pool on my concrete patio?
Usually the slab was poured too flat or tipped toward the house, or it sank later because the dirt under it was raked level instead of dug out and packed. A low spot away from the house can sometimes be left alone, but water running at your foundation is worth fixing, and I'll tell you which you've got when I see it.
Do you pour concrete parking lots and shop floors in Monrovia?
Yes, we pour parking areas, shop floors and foundations for owners with a lot or a building to pave, not just homeowners. The same basics apply as on a driveway: a packed base, a slope that sends water off the lot and joints cut where cracks should go.
